Handi Quilter Educational Event- Taking the Mystery Out of Longarm Quilting

Curious about solving the mystery of Longarm quilting? Or are you looking for a chance to brush up your longarm skills? This class demystifies longarm quilting by teaching all the basics! This class is full of great tips and tricks while exhibiting all the great features found in the Handi Quilter machine lineup.

Topics Include:

  •  Longarm machine and frame features and maintenance
  •  How to set tension on upper thread and bobbin 
  •  How to load your quilt onto a frame
  • Choosing the right thread and designs for your project
  •  A basic overview of free-motion techniques and ruler work

Patty Kurns
Instructor Bio:
Patty Kerns has loved sewing since taking home economics in middle school. Her quilting journey began in 2003. She has taught classes for the local quilt guild and also worked in a quilt shop to feed her passion for quilting.

In 2014 Patty took her quilting to the next level when she purchased her Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher. Patty quickly became proficient with Pro-Stitcher, and now enjoys combining Pro-Stitcher with rulers and free motion quilting. She quilts professionally in her community and also enjoys teaching new long arm owners.

Patty has had a 36-year career as a Registered Nurse and continues to work part-time in the operating room. She has also served as adjunct faculty at the George Washington University School of Nursing, overseeing students in the clinical setting.
